Why Pots?

I first became an appreciator of pots because they were tiny treasures I could hold, look at and use. Pots appeal to my thirst to see beauty, to touch handmade objects, and to be able to put to use a unique bowl, plate, or mug. Pots are art with a practical side.

The making of pots has taken me on a fantastic journey of learning, practicing, hard work, getting dirty, frustration, elation and support. Along the way friendships have been forged with open, giving, generous potters, teachers, and fellow pot lovers.

The process of making and decorating a piece and then putting it in the gas kiln environment is challenging and exciting. At times the results are disappointing, yet other times the outcome is better than anything one could have intended, much less imagined. This constant preparation and then subjection to the fire is what sparks new ideas and keeps things fresh and exciting.
